There are a few books (Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships by Tristan Taormino is one) and places (Utah Polyamory Society for those who live in Utah) where some can turn to learn more about Polyamory and Open Relationships. No, they are not the same thing. Yes, there is such a thing as an "Ethical Slut." Many are re-claiming their bodies, minds, and relationships from traditional mores dictating how human beings are "supposed" to live.
And if you are one who practices ethical, consensual non-monogamy, I hope you know you have a local, non-religious Minister available who will respect your freedoms and philosophies! I would be honored to meet with you and your partners to craft a meaningful public or private celebration of your love. Have you felt unable to find local religious leaders who will value and celebrate your relationships?
Please know that as a Humanist, I believe that every individual consenting adult has the authority and right in their own lives to live as they choose, when no others are being harmed by their decisions. I will not only respect you and your loved ones regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race or any other factor - I will celebrate with you the bravery it takes to live your life openly with no regrets.
